Great beginner book, but hardly worth the $30.00 price tag! I would be a rip-off at $15.00.
The first, the content quality is awful. Pages have half-cut images, poor quality images. The font size is too large so even 100 pages don't contain much information. I'm an advanced Linux user trying to find a book for my friend who is a beginner. After a brief review, I can definitely recommend now to waste your time and money on it.
This book sucks.All the information in it could have been extracted from the Internet. And this is what he did.Do not purchase this book. Absolutely useless.
Super easy to understand. Linux seemed very intimidating to me all these years. But this book makes it less annoying to me and I can now keep up with conversations about it that my colleagues are having, so that's good!
I would have liked some more details in the book and not things like what is an operating system and so on. Then there are some complicated (for a beginner) commands in the middle which seem out of place. The book is very short as well at around 100 pages.
I haven't used linux that much and I still consider myself a beginner, but there wasn't a single thing in this book I didn't already know. For the price of $1 it might be worth the read if you've never ever used linux, but otherwise don't waste your time.
The book goes into a few basic commands. However, this book for the first half of it shows you how to install Linux and what to do after post installation. Moreover, this book does give you a table of essential commands like Man, Dd, and Alias along with a brief but informative description of what the command does. Overall this book could have used alot more content than what was presented.
I bought this manual after having tried over 20 different Linux distros. I wanted to learn more about Linux, especially the file system. This book really isn’t for a true beginner who knows absolutely nothing about Linux. It’s more geared to an intermediate user.
