About the Author
Award-winning author, Hayley Rose, grew up in the beach side town of Pacific Palisades, California, to a family of visual artists. In the early 90's she traveled the U.S. with her band Crush Violet. In 1994, after a family reunion, she was inspired to write a children's book. Her first book, Fifo When I Grow Up was published in 2002. Fifo "50 States" is the second in the Fifo series. Along with writing children s books, Hayley has been working in entertainment business management for the past 15 years specializing in concert touring. She has worked with many A list musicians, and hopes to one day soon release an album of children's songs. She is currently a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and resides in Los Angeles, CA.

Really well done, teaches my kid the essentials of each state. Bird, flower and capitals for states, he again lives the illustrations and it keeps him asking for it again and again! Thank you!
fifo fifty states is a very colorful, child friendly informative book for ALL ages. i bought it for my grandchildren but have enjoyed it, too.

Fifo, is travelling all around the country, from one state to the other in alphabetical order. Every page is about a state and there is a really nice picture too!Through this lovely journey, children get to learn a few things about each state in a rhythm! There is the state name and the capital and its numbering too! There is also the state flower, tree and bird in that little poem! In the bottom of the page, our little friends can read the state’s motto!!!On the other page, that hosts a picture about the state, there is always Fifo, doing what somebody would do in that state, like surfing in Hawaii or canoeing in Idaho! All the nice things that are part of the poem are visible in the picture too! As well as the state map is drawn somewhere highlighted with the state initials! There is also a bit of the state’s history hidden in there along with any kind of activities or festivities that make the state known! One can also see the crops, orchards or animals to be found in the state, which is very nice for the children to see!The illustration is done by Jesse B. Orlet and is really enjoyable! The lovely bear, the beautiful state scenes, the animals, birds and nature represent each state quite lovely!
Fifo "50 States" is one of the cutest and educational books I have read in a while. This is a great book for the child in your life that wants to learn more about the states.Each pages tell about a different state. It has a great poetic rhythm that makes it fun to read and remember the details about each state. The details included are the capital of each state, the state flower, and the state bird. It's a nicely written, creative, and fun way to help children learn about the United States. I would highly recommend to anyone that has a young child that would enjoy learning more about our country. I think this could be used as a learning tool if you have a child that is learning about the states in school. The author has done a great job of making it an enjoyable easy to read book.The illustrations are beautiful and captivated my attention. Fifo shows us what fun things can been seen or done in each state as well as what that state is known for. I think my favorite imagine was Fifo driving an Indy car for Indiana. I enjoyed looking at each picture to see what all the illustrator was able to incorporate into each picture for each state. The illustrations are adorable, creative, beautifully done. They held my attention and I think they will easily hold the attention of the child in your life.Overall I truly did enjoy this book. Hayley Rose has done a fabulous job of writing a fun yet very education book. I see there are more books by Ms. Rose that include Fifo. I have a feeling they are just as cute and educational as this one.I was given the opportunity to read this cute book and it has been my pleasure to share my thoughts with you.
With a whirlwind of fun, this book dances through each state and throws all sorts of tidbits of information to show how unique each one is.Fifo is a big, friendly bear who's decided to travel across the U.S. to see what each state has to offer--and he has a lot to discover.This book goes through the states alphabetically, giving each one it's own two-page spread: one side text, while the other presents a delightful illustration. Location, the capital, well-known sights, vegetation, products, animal life, or many other attributes that each state is known for receives its spotlight in a fun, 12-line rhyme. The information flows fast but is so fun to read/listen-to that it comes across with no effort. Some of the rhymes stumble, but the main concept still shines through.The illustrations are bright, detailed and have a very personal touch. Fifo is an older, stouter, and smiley bear who refuses to shy away from adventure. He's presented with full enthusiasm in a setting fitting for each state. Around him, highlights fill the page, giving young eyes tons to explore. This is a book which can and should be flipped through time and again, and guarantees that something new will be discovered each time.This is a bed-time read, but rather a fun way to learn more about the 50 states and gain a little more appreciation for the huge variety each one offers. Although all of the information won't stick, many things are sure to remain hanging. Especially kids ages four and up are sure to want to visit these pages time and again.I received a complimentary copy and found this way of learning so enjoyable that I wanted to leave my honest thoughts.
