I absolutely LOVE this book. It is a book that approaches Africa, Islam and Spirituality from a non-orientalist, non-colonialist perspective. It acknowledges the preservation of traditional Islam by a forgotten and oft-ignored people (Sub-Saharan Africans). The walking Qur'an examines the strategically formulated and often assumed opinions of Islamic practices and traditions in West Africa and their validity and close proximity to the way of the beloved prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessing be upon him). This book is a very refreshing scholarly body of work and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for Islamic traditions, preserved.

Dr. Bilal Rudolph T. "Butch" Ware provides a spectacularly masterful historical analysis and commentary in this beautiful work. I just finished reading it, and I have too many things on my mind and in my heart right now.I strongly suggest this piece of scholarship to anyone interested in African history and/or Islam. Rudolph Ware is a name to retain as this brilliant scholar's keen intellect is truly promising and displays unlimited potential in "truthfully" and sincerely recounting the African History.
