While brousing through the free book section on my kindle one day I came across this jem. I figured hey it's a free book why not give it a shot. It is by an author I have never read before and a book I have never read. I love finding new authors and one of the ways I have done that in the past is browsing and selecting books from the free section. Mind you not all of those books are great books, just ones that pass the time in between books usually. However that is NOT the case with this book. I was sucked in right away to this novel. I couldn't put it down. I think i finished it in one evening just because I loved it so much, and didn't want it to end. I ended up loving it so much i immediately bought the second book in the series, just wanting more, and I couldn't get enough. I was so glad when I learned this was going to be a series!Susan Alexander is now one of my favorite authors. One day I hope to finally meet her and get my books signed by her. I do have a paper back of this book signed by her! I have read the rest of the Maxwell series since the first book came out and each book gets better and better. You will fall in love with the Maxwell brothers; with their families and leading ladies. You will be adding Susan Alexander to your favorite author list, and will be waiting impatiently for each new release to come out.I'm so glad I took a chance on this book. You never know what your going to get when the books are free, so I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book! Make sure you check out the rest of the Maxwell series (you can never get enough of the Maxwell brothers) and her Vampire series.
I usually love such series with main heroines who have psycological trauma and a lot of hot brothers, but I missed the hard-to-get girl in this book. Lacey gave herself so easily to Kade that I was not interesting to read at all... I do not believe that somebody so hard and hurt as Kade was could fall in love so fast.. that spoiled all the fun I waited for. Till the very end of the book I hoped to get some action, some ex-girlfriend who managed to get Kade into bed with herself or sonething like that, but I got nothing of it, only stupid “trust issuesâ€... so the book gets 4 stars, as I really liked it, but it did not make me think about the story more and I am not even eager to buy the second book. I am a little bit disappointed as I love good series and twisted characters. But this was not the case for me this time.
An amazing story of young love and for one, the love of keeping to the routine of doing what you do just to make it to the next day without going under.A young girl moves across the country to fulfill her dreams of a scholarship to ASU to play on the men's baseball team. She moves because she and her father have lost everything that means anything to them, a mother and wife and sister and daughter. Her father immerses himself into work to try to deal with the stress while Lacey tries to fit back into highschool life. She isn't looking for love and not really looking for friends. But she finds both but they don't come without challenges.Kade carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. He misses his mother terribly who has has mental health issues. He also has triplet brothers that he takes care of while his father is working. The two meet at the baseball field when Lacey is practicing to make the guys baseball team at her new highschool. Let's just say they get off to a rough start. There is a past history of girls making the guys team at this school that involves the triplets and Kade. They become "protectors" for the girls of the team. Kade just happens to fall for Lacey hard as she does the same for him. The trials and tribulations of new love ensue and Lacey is left with wondering if she can trust people with her past. To make things work with both love and life she must confess her PTSD to Kade, the coach and her new BFF, Becca.This wonderful story while told through the love of baseball has so much more to do with overcoming the daily struggles of PTSD. This disease not only touches those we normally think of dealing with this but anyone who witnesses something so tragic that the brain has trouble processing. If you know anyone who struggles please try to get them the help they need.
I went into this thinking it would be just another run of the mill story & was so wonderfully surprised. This was excellent writing with great story & character development. I connected with the main character, Lacey, who was a strong but beautifully flawed girl due to a very traumatic event she lived through. And I know what you're thinking - same story,different book - but that so was not the case here. The story was interesting and super well developed and there was no magical moment when everything was suddenly healed. Oh, and Kade. Holy hell Kade. I am so in love with him. In so many ways. Hot, sweet, caring, mature, bit of a temper, possessive (in a really good way) with the obligatory six pack that you want to run your tongue over. And his 3 brothers? Damn. Like a whole box of sex on a stick. Oh yeah, this book totally rocks. It's not over in this one either. Not a cliff hanger but you're definitely going to want to see where Kade and Lacey's story goes. I cannot wait for book two. Take a chance on this, you will be so happy you did!
I really loved this book by S.B. Alexander which I finished in one sitting! It had so much going for it, I was hooked from beginning to end. The main characters Lacey and Kade may be young but their love was true, strong, and encompassing. The story was truly memorable and I liked that it was touching and tragic but also promising and inspiring. I liked the compelling mix of sports, family, romance, rivalries, and growing pains which all seemed so real and relatable. Now I want to read the other books in the series, which I'm pretty sure would be just as or even more riveting and intense than Dare to Kiss. Give me more of the Maxwells!
